Carmen

Carmen - by Cari Humphry 20x24

I scored a terrific shot of this bovine from an editor for the Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association. I love the smokey atmosphere and the blue-gray is a nice compliment with the burnt sienna of the cow.

Waiting for Dawn

Waiting for Dawn - Original Painting by Cari Humphry 12x30

Water can be challenging, but also rewarding to paint. My favorite part of this composition is the emerging light on the water and the tips of the seaside city. I especially enjoy the orange and blue contrast in this painting.  I painted this on a museum wrapped canvas (2.5 inches thick) with the painting conituning around the edges. Hope you enjoy!

Betty

Betty - 30x48 - Original Cow Painting by Cari Humphry

Have I mentioned I that I love to paint cows? …. 🙂 I just finished this girl up on Monday evening or actually it was probably early Tuesday morning- about 2 am. I love this angle, it reminds me of my late grandmother (in a good way). She was red-headed and often had this particular look on her face. The scale of this painting makes it a lot of fun, too- the cow head is life-size or larger. Hope you enjoy!

A Pair of Pears

A Pair of Pears - Original Painting by Cari Humphry

It has been AGES since I have posted! I am so sorry- I have been crazy busy this summer with entertaining kids, moving our store and squeezing in painting (which I had over 8 commission paintings to complete this summer!). I did sneak in a chance to do some painting for “myself” and for a few days I worked on pears. A good friend gave me some images of a still life she set up and this is one of the painting I did using her images. I love the looseness and the high contrast in the colors. Hope you enjoy!

Happy Cow II

Happy Cow II- Original Painting by Cari Humphry

This is one in a series of paintings I have started. The other two- “Happy Cow” and “Little Happy Cow” featured a black and white holstein. These settings just make me happy. The warmer weather with blue sky and lush green grass… not a worry in sight. Kinda makes me want to be a “Happy Cow”. 🙂

Apple

In my house we are having a real hard time eating fruits and vegetables. My five-year old insists that the only vegetables she likes are potatoes and mac-n-cheese. We have had some major power struggles the last month at dinner time. I have been buying asparagus & english peas and carrots, so my children will realize just how good corn and green beans are. I also have been stocking up on apples…here is where the inspiration for this painting comes in (that took me a while- sorry!).
